What makes you a Risky Woman?

I take a collaborative approach to managing risk. Focusing on bringing people together to get the right things done, well, gets results. I am a supportive leader and contributor to my teams. My teams focus on creative solutions that deliver the best outcomes. Risk management doesn’t need to be boring.

Name your top 3 achievements

  1. Building strong compliance teams. I love seeing people who journey from being new to the Risk and Compliance arena to flourishing and now sharing their expertise with others.
  2. Guiding the government of South Korea to gain membership of the FATF. The government of South Korea was supported to understand and plan for a whole-of-government change program. Their focus was impressive and they quickly gained the respect of other FATF member countries.
  3. Developing and implementing new systems and platforms that support my teams including transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, training and account opening. Giving highly skilled people great tools so they can do a great job.

What is the biggest risk you’ve taken in your career?

I do not engage in workplace politics and I remain focused on the greater good. I have always treated all people - regardless of their role and influence - with respect, honesty and openness. This has not always been a smooth path to take. But it has brought opportunities.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I set out to become a Human Rights lawyer, to fight for the inherent value of each person, regardless of background, where we live, what we look like, what we think or what we believe.

What is the best quality for successful leaders in Risk?

To truly listen.
