What makes you a Risky Woman?

I have provided and implemented transformative solutions for my clients. I have created a brand in my area of expertise but wasn’t easy to achieve while facing many diversity and inclusiveness challenges. In many situations, I have been the underdog, but I have let my work ethics, support from the amazing clients, and hard work pave the path.

Name your top 3 achievements

  1. Recognition by the CEO of a large bank for implementing a large risk management program. (Secret – there were many days, when I had major doubts about successfully delivering the program but at times you have to remind yourself that there are amazing teams around you, they want you to succeed. So thankful for this experience and the learnings I took away).
  2. Creating and sponsoring a program for high performing women in risk and regulatory community in one of my previous firms. This initiative provided them an inclusive place and opportunity to tap into equal opportunities and further getting a sponsorship in the firm to excel in their career.
  3. Creating a solution which was well received by 4 banks. The biggest achievement for me was to have amazing client relationships who cared for my growth and created a room to develop excellent partnership opportunities.

What is the biggest risk you’ve taken in your career?

Leaving a well settled position to go after new learnings. I felt that I was not growing in that role and risks were high, few things in the beginning quite did not work out the way I expected but that is the idea about taking risks, perseverance does pay off at the end.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

For straight 10 years, I never missed out a gym routine early morning. I do believe maintaining a healthy lifestyle is very important to keep up with our busy lifestyle. Many of us have lost that routine during COVID, including me and I am working at it.

What is the best quality for successful leaders in Risk?

Willingness and courage to take risks, driving outcomes and ability to challenge. The unconventional risk approach is critical given how quickly the outlook for many businesses is changing. In the risk areas, the biggest risk is that many risks are unknown. The successful risk leader is never afraid to raise hand and prepare organization for the unknown. Risk readers need to be supported by the organization too and risk reward needs to be looked at differently.
