I was trained as a journalist and working as an editor in trade media when I launched Zissman Media, a content marketing firm, in 2004. Today, we focus solely on ghostwriting for risk, insurance and compliance businesses and their executives.
What makes you a Risky Woman?
I’m passionate about ridding the world of risk, and I’m partnering with businesses to do it one blog, eBook and white paper at a time. There is so much power in the written word! I’m grateful for the opportunity to combine my passion for writing with my passion for risk management daily.
Name your top 3 achievements
- Growing a multi-six figure business with my own hands
- Raising 5 kids at the same time.
- Mentoring students at my alma mater and coaching them as they start their professional lives
What is the biggest risk you’ve taken in your career?
Although I’ve been ghostwriting for businesses and executives for nearly 20 years, I made a decision to work exclusively with risk, insurance and compliance businesses around the start of the pandemic. This great risk also proved to be a tremendous catalyst for business growth. It was a leap of faith that closed some doors, but opened infinitely more – only at the time, there was no guarantee that it would!
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I teach Writing Workshop at a local girls high school twice/week. Bringing a love of different genres of writing, incorporating current events and just being a role model and sounding board for 22 high school juniors inspires me every week. I see it as my opportunity to think global, act local.
What is the best quality for successful leaders in Risk?
Compassion. My formula for writing on behalf of risk, insurance or compliance businesses is to always show readers that the business understands the risks they face first. Then, we provide them with practical tips and tools on how to reduce that risk.
