Jennifer Arnold

Anti money laundering nerd that left big banking to co-found a regtech startup using automation and deep learning to execute enhanced due diligence / client risk assessment / investigations in minutes.

What makes you a Risky Woman?

Risk is my second career. I started in communications, but after working on an anti money laundering project at Bank of Montreal I just couldn't go back. AML risk and compliance became my calling, my cause - stop the bad guys.

Name your top 3 achievements

  1. Cofounder / CEO of startup MinervaAI
  2. Short list for the CBC Literary Short Story prize (a long time ago)
  3. My daughter - who is so brave and funny

What is the biggest risk you’ve taken in your career?

I left a long career in corporate communications where I had seniority and a good reputation, to jump into a totally new discipline (anti money laundering compliance) and start all over again.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I'm actually very tall, on the inside:) And I love sci-fi. LOVE!

What is the best quality for successful leaders in Risk?

Curiosity, as it leads us down a road of inquiry and discovery, which also promotes creativity.
