Betsy Blumenthal

I have spent the last three decades working with Kroll clients, responding to requests for assistance with pre-transaction research, including culture checks and business intelligence, working closely with family offices and individuals on sensitive personal matters as well as with corporate clients on a variety of issues, including employee wrongdoing, theft of IP and more.

Before joining Kroll, I worked at the Democratic National Committee, American Express and Home Box office. Throughput my career I have served on not-for-profit boards, including the International Rescue Committee.

What makes you a Risky Woman?

I am not afraid to go out on a limb for clients, colleagues, family, friends or strangers.

1. Having children,
2. hiring some of Kroll’s finest investigators/consultants, and
3. maintaining a full professional and personal life.

What is the biggest risk you’ve taken in your career?

Unlike most of my colleagues, I joined Kroll without experience as an investigator/journalist and literally had on the job training. Decades later, I am still learning and enjoying the work, my colleagues and clients.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

That I am dyslexic and barely made it through school.

What is the best quality for successful leaders in Risk?

A few come to mind, being a good listener, knowing your limitations and when to call upon colleagues who are better suited to assist the client.
