What an incredible way to warm up for the 2025 Regulatory Landscape!
Our event today, hosted by LSEG Risk Intelligence in partnership with Risky Women was truly an amazing experience. We had a full house filled with inspiring women from the risk industry, as well as many supportive male colleagues who joined us to learn and engage (we love that!).
We kicked off the event with opening remarks led by Lucy Pearman, who emphasized the importance of women-led initiatives and how Risky Women supports and empowers women in the risk and compliance space. Her message on lifting each other up really resonated with everyone present.
Following Lucy’s opening, Mary Kopczynski delivered an incredible keynote speech on the 2025 Regulatory Landscape in the USA. She broke down the 47 executive orders issued by the President and the over 300 bills introduced by Congress so far. It’s clear that this year is going to be intense and full of changes!
We then moved on to a panel discussion focused on AML and associated regulations. Anna Rosenberg shared valuable insights on what to expect in the first 100 days of the new administration, and we had an engaging discussion on the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), which was then on hold after a Texas order.
John Melican provided an in-depth look at virtual assets regulation by the New York Department of Financial Services, highlighting the trend towards overlapping with traditional financial institutions and the implications of UBO in this space.
Karen Brown brought a practical perspective on what all this means for compliance professionals, sharing how her team tackles the fight against financial crime using a risk-based approach and working closely with regulators.
The cherry on top was the news that right after our panel discussion, the Supreme Court in the USA reinstated the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA)! What a beautiful coincidence. This was a hot topic during our session and is a fantastic first step for the risk and compliance community. For more details, you can check out the article here.
