Changing it up – Maximising Rewards of Career Change 1920 1920 Risky Women

After completing my Economics Degree at Monash University in Melbourne I never imagined an almost 30 year career with one company.  To be fair that company morphed and changed and I took on wide and varied roles relocating around the world several times.  There was always lots of transformation and reorganisation so I was used to adapting to change. Change is always interesting and I always tried to see the opportunities it presents. That said it is also challenging at times and identifying how you can quickly step into a new role and show impact is one that is close to my heart.  Having recently joined Lynk Global, a knowledge as a software platform, built on an Expert network I am in the process of on-boarding and there is a lot to learn!

It is a very different proposition to my previous 150 year old company and one that at only 5 years old offers the chance to shape and form new ways of meeting a global need for insight and knowledge for growth, investment and innovation.  It’s really exciting but I also feel like I am drinking from the proverbial fire hose.  New systems, new processes, new people and new customers.  Where do you start?

So it was wonderful to find my old colleague Elise Finn’s new podcast.  And you all know I love a podcast! Elise’s first season tackles changing careers and she has some fabulous tips and processes.  For me it has also been fun hearing her stories from our old company.  I recommend you have a listen whether you are changing roles or changing companies Elise has some great ideas that you’ll find rewarding.

Elise’s podcast is Her Career, Her Life and kicks off with 3 mistakes to avoid when starting your new job.

Happy listening!

Don’t forget to also look out for the next Risky Women Radio episode and if you want something totally different, I am LOVING Dolly Parton’s America!

Yours Riskily,
Kimberley
